GATE Talent

Sophia Song, born in California, USA, is a basketball player who primarily plays as a small forward/power forward and holds dual Taiwanese-American citizenship. She grew up in Los Angeles and during her high school years, she received the Almont League Player of the Year award three times. Sophia also earned a full scholarship to NCAA Division 1's University of California, Davis (UC Davis), where her team secured the championship of the Big West Conference for four consecutive years.

After graduating from college, Sophia briefly went to study in the UK at Manchester Metropolitan University and played for the Manchester Mystics team in the Women's British Basketball League (WBBL). Unfortunately, her season with the team was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sophia, whose father is Taiwanese, has always had the desire to play basketball in Taiwan. Recently, she successfully obtained Taiwanese citizenship and has arrived in Taiwan, preparing herself for future opportunities.

Wan-Ling is a member of the Tsou tribe from Alishan Township and grew up in Tainan. After graduating from university in 2022, she returned to her hometown Tainan for training. From a girl who loved dancing, she has now become a shining star in weightlifting for the country. In her "first" participation in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, she achieved fourth place in weightlifting. She plans to participate in more international competitions next, preparing for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

In addition to her outstanding performance on the field, she is also deeply committed to giving back to the grassroots and local communities through various charity activities. Through each of these charitable events, she uses her fame and influence to bring light to many people in need of help. For her, sports are not just a dream; she hopes to "help more people through sports."
